I guess its been a challenge for allot of us newsgroup addicts. As Microsoft started to use the new "Forums" for new releases. The Forums brings some benefits for people who wants to ask questions and get some help. But for people that respond to questions its not that beneficial. I dont want to be notified of every post someone responds to etc. What I rather want is offline capabilities. And last month a CTP of a offline forum reader was made available and if you would like to try it out please do so.
It has some prerequisites
The CTP of the client itself can be downloaded here.
Although I haven’t got this client to display the Configuration Manager Forums yet, but I wont give up so easy.
I must say I am very honored to reccive the e-mail with the MVP Award that I recceived today.
I am very happy for this award and I am very happy to have a wife like I have to stand up for me push me inspire me and help me do this, I love IT and love to contribute and inspire other people. Some people say that I dont have a life that maybe true but atleast I love what I do. And of course I love my son and wife they mean everything to me.
Thanks Sherry who was the first to send her congratulations. I also want to thank all enthusiastic friends for inspiration and the joy they bring.
Happy ConfigMgr – 08
The Center for Information Technology published a report on how to bypass some hard drive encryption’s.I find this very interesting and I guess some of you might as well so below is an abstract from their site and a link to it for you to look at.
Abstract Contrary to popular assumption, DRAMs used in most modern computers retain their contents for seconds to minutes after power is lost, even at operating temperatures and even if removed from a motherboard. Although DRAMs become less reliable when they are not refreshed, they are not immediately erased, and their contents persist sufficiently for malicious (or forensic) acquisition of usable full-system memory images. We show that this phenomenon limits the ability of an operating system to protect cryptographic key material from an attacker with physical access. We use cold reboots to mount attacks on popular disk encryption systems — BitLocker, FileVault, dm-crypt, and TrueCrypt — using no special devices or materials. We experimentally characterize the extent and predictability of memory remanence and report that remanence times can be increased dramatically with simple techniques. We offer new algorithms for finding cryptographic keys in memory images and for correcting errors caused by bit decay. Though we discuss several strategies for partially mitigating these risks, we know of no simple remedy that would eliminate them.

Ill be there….
Me myself and Anders Mr Contoso will be at TechED IT Forum 2007 (EMEA). If you would like to meet and talk dont hesitate to contact us.
Are you wondering when your support for your Microsoft products will go EOL, this is the page for you.
Another week has passed and I am home and full of energy after 5 days at Tech ED IT forum, I had my focus on management.
Upcoming Ops Manager 2007 and Configuration manager 2007 are two great products that will ease the burden for many IT Departments, they are apart of the DSI initiative that microsoft are working hard with. The System Center family will be a good suite for management. I had a sneak peak at the “Service Desk” product and that is what many companys already have today but with the integration into Ops Manager 2007 and Configuration Manager 2007 it will rock. Instead of using a ZTI portal for managing your software or even through your collections groups in sms. The integration will shorten administration time and your ITIL/ MOF processes will be easier to get automated, hopefully a suite that will support you in your IT processes in a good way.
I want to thank all people I spent my time with for a great week.
I will be blogging alot SMSv4/Configuration Manager 2007 here so I hope you stay tuned.
